Artist Profile
Growing up, I was exposed to many different artists and media, and my love for collages was primarily inspired by the work of Romare Beardon. I spent a lot of time making things alone; in grade school, I would decorate my brown paper book covers by carefully arranging pictures from magazines, newspapers, and family photos. Since then, my passion for collages grew. While much has changed, many aspects of my work remain the same. My process is still messy and I thrive by losing myself in the chaos.
My experience in photography, a degree in graphic design, and continuous studies in painting and drawing have all enriched my love for collage. Each element in my collages has its own vibrant personality. My challenge is to make the separate elements - be they paint, hand painted papers, photos, or fabrics - work together to speak in one strong voice.
